Match Report:

The season finished as it started – conceding a goal in the dying minutes of the game from a corner. It was a freak kick, a flick on from a player and went in. It shouldn’t really have been a corner in the first place. We were a bit casual giving that away in the dying minutes. We had our chances all game. Hit the post twice. We had about 5 shots on goal and came close but not close enough. They have 3 shots and score twice. The first goal was unfortunate for us. A bit of miscommunication over a mistimed kick from the striker and it managed to trickle in just before half time.

I thought on the whole we played very well as a team. There was lots of good passing and one on one wins.

Standouts for me were:

Jake in Centre Defence. He was solid all game and made some critical tackles just at the right moments. Won more than his share of one on one tackles. Great game. Great season. Reliable Dependable. Great team player.

Tom Sutton also in central defence, came up from the 16s and made an immediate impact on the backline. He was confident on the ball and won many high balls in the air and looked good going forward too.

Emilio is a pleasure to watch – not just for his speed and persistence on the ball but his anticipation and his weaving and changing direction with the ball. He played a bit in left back but also left wing and he really looked like he was going to score! Such a shame his final shot hit the top bar. It would have been an absolute cracker! Well played Emilio. We’ve loved watch you play.

Brennan up front stepped up and looked powerful winning many one on ones. He got himself into scoring positions and did well winning many one on ones. He so nearly managed to get on the scoring sheet. Its been a pleasure to watch your Tenacity.

Benito keeps getting better and better. I love how he holds his width out on the right wing. I love how versatile he is moving fom right back right up to a scoring position. He is truly very swify and puts himself in some great positions.

Daniel did a great job distributing from the central mid position. He won  a lot of ball and keeps going all game.

Koda was also sensational on the pitch today getting himself into great positions and really creating some driving runs down the pitch.

Mark has been fantastic in goals. Reliable and committed and definitely made at l least 2 pretty amazing saves today. Mark is always a hard worker and energetic and never gives up. He has definitely been an asset to the team.

Ben Kennedy has played with great heart all season and is known for his contagious passion to win. He hustles down with the goal keeper and does his best to win those corners flying in. It wasn’t to be this weekend. Ben is definitely our top goal scorer and has certainly pulled off some remarkable goals. Ben had a couple of shots today but too many weetbix to be dangerous today.

Tim Park took a remarkable free kick today right in front of goals to equalise the score. He landed it top right corner. No way the goal keeper was going to get that one. What a great way to finish his season off. Always a hard worker and works well with the midfield to create opportunities.

Leon never stops working in the midfield and wins some remarkable one on one balls. He works hard to pick up loose balls in the midfield and never stops for 90 minutes. A very good season from him.

I would also like to thank Sotiri, Nick Laliotis and Tom Gavros who stepped up from the u16s. They all played hard and never looked out of place.
It was great to see Nick Pearson and James J there injured but not out of mind.
Thank you to all the parents who have stepped up for vest duty, ball duty and camera duty. It has been much appreciated all season.
