Match Report:

With both centre backs out and Dan Rigby still recovering from injury, we were ably supported by some of the up and coming U16's who slipped right in to the team very easily. I thought we did a good job calmly playing our game and matching Rydalmere, who are third on the ladder. Rydalmere are very skilled with their set plays and every corner they won looked dangerous. Credit to our defenders who did a good job managing those high corners. Their free kicks also looked threatening but were not well executed today. They went high and wide.

They had a close flurry in front of goals at the 30th minute mark only to hit the bar and Mark flattened it. It was in the 37th minute that a high cross came over from their right attacker and found the left mid guy unmarked in front of goal and he headed it in sharply to the top left hand corner. It was a pretty good goal. We gave them just a bit too much room to allow them to do that.

Charlie Hammond was fighting hard in the centres and creating opportunities and he retaliated back straight away managing to get a shot through a sea of defenders but it just went wide of the goal mouth. A great shot - one of many opportunities created by Charlie. Billy also had a great game up front. He was heavily marked - no such luxury as we gave Rydalmere - by not one defender but often 2 defenders and he showed superb skill to get several shots off, all of them being cleaned up by the keeper.

Emilio was combining well with Billy and Dexter and Lachie Newton also. We were shut down quickly and it was hard to get those shots away.

In the second Half Mark had more work to do. He made a couple of great saves, but in the 60th minute he came out to shut down a one on one and the ball rebounded back to a Rydalmere player who put it in to score their second.

Leon played centre back with Ben Kennedy. 3 points from me go to Billy, 2 points to Dean and 1 point shared between the rest. Everyone did their jobs.
