Match Report:

It was a crisp morning in Moorebank for the early kick off against SD Raiders, and there could be no excuses as the pitch was in immaculate condition after a long season of football. The match started with some nice early passing movements from SD raiders and GRM were on the back foot immediately. A nice break down the left created a half chance for GRM and they were starting to get into the game, unfortunately after 8 minutes a lovely passing movement by SD Raiders ended in the first goal, 1-0 Raiders, it looked like it was going to be an uphill battle from there however GRM kept their heads up and created a chance in the 10th minute when a good ball from the left came into the Raiders box however GRM could not finish it off. The game was wide open and GRM were pushing for an equaliser however it left them open at the back.
In the 20th minute another good move down the left brought the first corner of the game for GRM but it amounted to nothing. A few minutes later a great tackle by Adam Pascale broke up a dangerous move by The Raiders. Some more good defending by GRM kept the score line at 1-0. On the 25th minute GRM got a free on the edge of the Raiders box but again it came to nothing, the boys were starting to get into the game more and more. At the other end a great last ditch block by James Purcell saved a sure goal just before half time.
1-0 at half time, GRM were still in this game against a very good well drilled side in SD Raiders.

The second half began with The Raiders creating an early chance but they could not convert. The Raiders were pressing early for the second goal to kill the game off but GRM were defending well. GRM earned a free early in the second half on the edge of the Raiders box and a good cross nearly ended in a goal for GRM however we could not get good enough contact to put it away, this was by far the best chance of the game for GRM. It was lucky to stay at 1- 0 a few minutes later as The Raiders missed a golden opportunity when one on one with the goalie. A lot of pressure was coming from The Raiders however the GRM defence, in particular Adam Pascale, gave away nothing. In the 20th minute of the second half after some good work by Tyko Williamson, GRM were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position but nothing came of it. A few minutes later it was 2-0, a good break by the Raiders down the right resulted in a good ball across the face of the GRM goal and a raiders player was there to finish it off, there was nothing the goalie could do. The game was wide open now and GRM never gave up trying to get a consolation goal. In the last couple of minutes, Adam Pascale, who was magnificent throughout the game limped off with what looked like a bad knock to the knee.
It finished 2-0 to the raiders but GRM should be proud of their performance against a very good SD Raiders side.
