Disciplinary Actions: Players PDF Print E-mail

1. Players may receive a verbal warning from Coaches or Club officials for ANY behaviour that is disrespectful toward coaches, officials and players or displays poor sporting behaviour.

2. If a player repeatedly disrupts practices or games due to unacceptable behaviour, the Coach:
a) Should firstly try to resolve the problem by talking with the player.

b) In Youth League, if this is not successful, the Coach should try to resolve the problem by talking to and seeking assistance from the player’s parents. If talking to the player and the player’s parents is not successful, the Coach should provide a formal verbal warning to the parents in the presence of the team Manager, that if the player’s behaviour does not improve, the player may be suspended from attending training sessions or games.

c) In State League, if talking to the player is not successful, the Coach should provide a formal verbal warning to the player in the presence of the Manager, that if the player’s behaviour does not improve, the player may be suspended from attending training sessions or games.

d) If no improvement is apparent after the formal verbal warning, the Coach should provide a written warning that if behaviour does not improve, the Coach will recommend that player be suspended from training and playing. A copy of this written warning is to be given to the Youth or State League Coordinator, as appropriate. The Youth or State League Coordinator will check with the Coach within two weeks to determine if sufficient improvement has occurred.

e) If insufficient improvement is apparent after the written warning, the Coach may request that the player be suspended. The request should be in writing to the relevant Coordinator who will bring it before the relevant Committee. If the Youth or State League Committee upholds the request, it may suspend the player for a specified period and will so notify the player (and parents in the case of Youth League).

f) If a player’s behaviour does not improve after resuming training and playing following a suspension, the Coach may request in writing that the Youth Committee or State League Committee:
i) suspend the player for the remainder of the season, and/or
ii) deregister the player from the Club.
